A Band Of Boys

ABOB comprising of four extremely talented boys, Karan Oberoi, Sherrin Varghese, Chin2 Bhosle and Siddhaarth Haldipur are India 's First and only Boy Band!
The music for their 1 st album ‘Yeh Bhi Woh Bhi' has been released in August 2002 and obtained a phenomenal response (with the song ‘Meri Neend' spearheading the sales!) subsequently leading to sales crossing 1,00,000 units in less then a fortnight of its launch! The album sales did so well that two more videos were shot and the album re-released as ‘Gori' with the song Gori spearheading the sales this time!
ABOB's debut film, Kiss Kis Ko' , was released in October 2004 with the boys not just having starred in it but having composed the music themselves!

And more recently, in January 2006, ABOB released their 3 rd Album ‘Gaane Bhi Do Yaaron' with the video of the song ‘Nain katari' successfully driving the album sales followed by ‘Aa bhi ja' and ‘Sunn lo zara' . Not surprisingly the response has been phenomenal and the second run of production of tapes and CD's put in the market are fast depleting!

While ABOB are essentially singers, they have been trained in all aspects of stagecraft culminating in their stage shows being something to watch out for – the boys sing, dance & act, and their shows are modeled on Broadway performances abroad. While Hindi music (Indipop and film music) is their forte, they also sing English numbers.

Milestones

March 2001

Over 1,000 aspiring artists from all over India were interviewed and a shortlist of 250 candidates were auditioned in Mumbai. By the end of March, four boys were selected and A BAND OF BOYS' was born who were put through 16 hours of training every day in
  • Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal) Training
  • Physical training and body toning.
  • Dance and aerobic rehearsals
On the basis of their selection and the training process, ABOB were nominated as MTV's ‘ Ubharta Sitara '. An honour never before given to any artiste without an album or music video to their credit!

September 2002

‘Yeh bhi woh bhi ', the debut album of ABOB is released by Asha Bhosle. The chartbuster ‘ Meri Neend ' makes it to the top 5 of all the Countdown Shows on radio and on the music channels within a week of it having been launched! Based on the overwhelming response, 3 more videos were shot – ‘Ishq' , ‘She drives me crazy' and ‘Gori' with 2 of these songs making it to the charts!

February – July 2003

Composed and recorded for ABOB's 2 nd music album (and Original Sound Track!) for their debut film ‘ Kiss Kis Ko '. The film was shot for 2 months in Bali and Jakarta , Indonesia starring ABOB

October 2004

ABOB's debut film ‘ Kiss Kis Ko ' was released and within 2 weeks the music album (composed by the Boys themselves) was sold out! Post which, ABOB has been performing live all over the world and India promoting their album and movie.

January 2006 - March 2007

ABOB released their 3 rd Album – ‘ Gaane Bhi Do Yaaron', the video release for which was the song ‘Nain Katari' which climbed to the top of the charts within a week! It became a huge radio hit and the video was widely acclaimed for its ‘kitsch' look and extreme fun approach! Based on the resounding success of which, 2 more videos have been canned – ‘Áa bhi ja' and ‘Sunn lo zara' and are on air and predictably the response has been overwhelming!

April 2007

ABOB collaborated with another band Nexus (live musicians, who include – Sangeet from Aasma, Gino Banks Louiz Banks' son and Sheldon D'Silva) to give their fans a whole new music experience. Pioneering the International concept of IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) in India , the band now also performs as xen@bob where people who love dance music now can hear electronic music blended with live acoustic instrumentisation and extremely innovative and interesting vocalizations!

ABOB are currently directing music for films and performing live shows in India and worldwide.
